Old stores served to provide needed supplies and groceries but also a sense of community...a gathering place for talk, friendship and music.

Johnson and Carter County's barns are some of our greatest treasures. "This barn fell this year (2016) ...time took its toll."

Raising tobacco holds many fond memories...although a lot of hard work. Time with my Dad and Grandpa are special memories and with all my brothers and sisters... and of course, Mom. Picnics of potted meat and crackers when we were really hungry was a special treat. A little brother or sister in a basket or box, playing as we worked was a normal part of the farm.
